Rich and creamy homemade hot chocolate made with dark cocoa powder and bittersweet chocolate.
1 1/2 cups milk
1/2 cup cream
1/4 cup cocoa powder
1/4 cup granulated sugar
4 ounces bittersweet chocolate bar, chopped
1/4 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
Pour the milk and cream into a saucepan. Warm on low heat.
While the milk warms, add the cocoa powder and sugar, and whisk until dissolved.
Gradually add the chopped chocolate, and whisk until melted.
Continue to whisk, adding the vanilla extract, mixing until combine.
Pour the hot chocolate into mugs, top with whipped cream, marshmallows, or your favorite hot chocolate toppings, and enjoy.
